We see the face of Christ in every one we serve.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7, 13
This quote from Scripture defines the core values of our mission in Kenya…Faith, Hope and Love.
Faith: The values and teachings of the Catholic faith comprise the foundation of our mission. We do not require those we serve to be of the same faith—we welcome all in need. We are exemplars of our faith acting consistent with Catholic teachings, conducting our lives morally and ethically, and serving the most vulnerable children of Haiti for the glory of God. We have faith and trust that God will guide us to the best possible outcomes for the individuals and families we serve.
Hope: We hope and pray for God’s assistance in the midst of difficulty and confusion. Through hope we remain optimistic, looking forward to the future with joy. With a vision for a positive future, we are able to deal honestly with the reality of our current situation. With hope we are able to achieve an inner peace which allows us to look beyond the present challenges and find joy in the struggle as we cultivate our capacity to achieve the good in life.
Love: We look on those most in need with compassion and love. We strive to “do small things in life with great love.” (Saint Mother Theresa) We are compassionate towards those who are helpless, supportive of those in need, and eager to empower those capable of developing their futures.
